Women's Basketball Announces 2014-15 Schedule

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Thirteen home games, three nationally-televised contests and 10 2014 postseason opponents highlight the 2014-15 Richmond women's basketball schedule, which was announced by Richmond head coach Michael Shafer Thursday afternoon.
The schedule release comes in conjunction with the Atlantic 10 Conference unveiling its conference schedule Thursday.
The Spiders will play 13 home games at the Robins Center, which has undergone extensive renovations and upgrades over the last two years, including a new court this fall, highlight this year's schedule.
In addition to the 13 home games, the Spiders will face 16 road opponents, 10 teams that went into the 2013-14 postseason and will be broadcast on national TV for three contests.
Richmond will tip off the 2014-15 season with three home games, including a season-opening double-header with the men's squad Friday, Nov. 14 against Providence. The Spiders will remain home for two-straight dates that feature Georgetown and Longwood on Nov. 16 and 20, respectively.
Over Thanksgiving break will be Richmond's first road trip, heading to Las Vegas, Nev., for the Las Vegas Tournament to face Central Michigan and Arkansas on Nov. 27 and 29.
Following a trip to 2014 NCAA participant James Madison on Dec. 3, the Spiders will return home against 2014 MEAC Champion Hampton on Dec 6 and ACC-foe Wake Forest on Dec. 14.
The UNC Wilmington Seahawks will kick off a six-game road swing on Dec. 17 for Richmond. The Spiders will continue on the road and face Eastern Kentucky, William & Mary, UAB, Fordham and University of Pennsylvania from Dec. 21-Jan. 14.
The Fordham game, which is scheduled for Jan. 4 at 3:30 p.m., starts conference play for Richmond as well as its TV debut on CBS Sports Network.
The Spiders will then return to the Robins Center Jan. 7 to host St. Bonaventure, before traveling to George Washington Saturday, Jan 10.
Richmond will return home Jan. 18 to face George Mason on ESPNU at 12 p.m., before hitting the road again three days later to travel to A-10 newcomer Davidson on Jan. 21.
On Jan. 24, the Spiders host Massachusetts prior to welcoming 2014 A-10 Champion Dayton to Richmond on Jan. 28.
Following a trip to Rhode Island, Richmond will host city rival VCU on Feb. 4 and Saint Louis three days later.
La Salle (Feb. 14) and George Washington (Feb. 26) round out the home schedule for the Spiders.
After traveling to Dayton on Feb. 11, Richmond will head to Duquesne (Feb. 18) and Saint Joseph's (Feb. 21) before ending the regular season at city rival VCU at the Siegel Center on March 1 at 2 p.m. on CBSSN.
The 2014-15 A-10 Championship will start on March 4 with the Championship Game on March 8 at the Richmond Coliseum for the second-straight year.
