THE SERIES
This is just the second meeting between the two teams and the second-straight year the Spiders have traveled to Belk Arena. Davidson hosted Richmond's women's basketball for the first time last season when the Spiders cruised past the Wildcats, 87-68, on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013. Five Spiders recorded double figures in the victory.
THE SPIDERS
The Spiders are coming off of an impressive 77-49 home victory over the George Mason (11-7, 3-2 A-10) Patriots this past Sunday on ESPNU. Richmond tallied five Spiders in double figures who accounted for all but three of the 77 points. This is the second-straight game Richmond kept its opponent under 50 this season. The Spiders are averaging 66.5 points per game and outscoring their opponents by a 4.5 scoring margin. Sophomore Janelle Hubbard leads three Spiders in double figures with 14.7 points per game.
THE WILDCATS
The Wildcats snapped a five-game losing streak with a 53-50 win over Saint Louis this past Sunday to improve to 5-13 overall and 1-4 in its first year as an A-10 member. Davidson is just 2-6 in Belk Arena this season, including 0-3 in conference play. The Wildcats are being outscored this season by a 10.6 scoring margin as they are averaging 59.3 points per game. Hannah Early leads two Wildcats in double figures with 15.6 points per game.
LAST TIME OUT
Five Spiders hit double figures to lead Richmond over the George Mason Patriots, 77-49, Sunday afternoon at the Robins Center on ESPNU. Richmond (10-7, 2-2 A-10) held George Mason (11-7, 3-2 A-10) leading scorer Taylor Brown - who averages 23.6 points per game - to just 10 points as she was 3-for-15 on the day to clinch its second win in the conference. Janelle Hubbard and Lauren Tolson led the five Spiders with 18 points apiece, while Liz Brown followed with 15 points. Olivia Healy tallied 12 points along with six rebounds and Genevieve Okoro rounded out the group with 11 points. Okoro led the team with a game-high eight rebounds. All five Spiders who hit double figures scored all but three points for Richmond. Micaela Parson tallied the three points on a three-point play in the final two minutes of the contest.
GIMME THAT!
The Spiders are dominating on defense as they are averaging 7.5 steals per game and forcing 16.3 turnovers a game. After recording 11 steals in the win against Georgetown, Richmond charted an impressive 14 takeaways against Longwood. Most recently, Richmond forced 19 George Mason turnovers off of 11 steals this past Sunday. The Spiders are led by freshman Kylie Murphree with 30 steals, while Genevieve Okoro and Liz Brown follows with 19 apiece.
