Twice a month, we'll visit with a different Spider swimming and diving student-athlete in the Spider Spotlight.
Anna Fetter is one of five seniors competing in the Robins Center Natatorium for the final time of their career on January 24, 2015. Ahead of Senior Day, we get to know Anna a little in advance of this final home meet.
Career aspirations: I love working with children and nonprofits, so potentially something within that field.
Three words to describe yourself: weird, caring, loyal
Best or most memorable moment as a member of your Spider program: One of my favorite moments may have to be the first time a little girl I've worked with over the last four years finally kicked a lap down the pool by herself. The pride and look of accomplishment made all the tears over the last four years worth it.
Toughest opponents: Honestly we swim against a lot of very talented teams. But our team succeeds because we make each other the biggest opponents. We race each other in practice all of the time. We know and understand how each person swims their races. We work to better the person in the lane next to us at practice each day. Cause at the end of the season we want to be racing in the final heat next to another red Spider cap.
Best sports memory: There's a tie between winning A-10s freshman year and when I was little. The first time winning conference and being a member of a successful college team is a feeling that's hard to forget. And when I was a young teen (somewhere between 13-15), I made top 10 (9th) in the country for synchronized swimming in the solo competition. I was pretty pumped about that.
Favorite meal: I'm notorious for overreacting when spaghetti and meatballs with cornbread is being served anywhere… I love it.
Favorite ice cream: This is hard because I am an avid ice cream lover. But anything chocolate, specifically cookies and cream and double fudge brownies.
On your playlist: I have a lot of rap, R&B and country on my playlist currently… with a touch of Andy Grammar.
What most people don't know about you: I have my go to facts of I've moved 11 times and I was a synchronized swimmer up until sophomore year of high school. But something else would have to be I really love Professional Bull Riding, there's just something about it I can't really explain.
If you could go on any game show: Legends of the Hidden Temple… who wouldn't want to be part of team purple monkey?
Hidden talent: I am a GREAT singer and dancer…. Not really but I do it anyway and sometimes people are nice and say I'm good.
Dream car: A red pick up truck… there's something 'bout a truck.
If you could travel anywhere in the world: I'd go where the mountains are. Or Ireland, I'd go there too.
Favorite class: I've liked a lot of my classes. One memorable class would be Foundations of Stage Makeup. I grew up with a theater mom, so learning all of those techniques was really cool, it was kind of like a behind the scenes special feature on DVDs.
Pets: I currently have two dogs at home. I'm 100 percent a dog person.
Hero: It's hard to pick one person that I consider a hero. But I think one person that really stands out currently in my head is my baby sister, Sara. She has had a lot thrown on to her plate and the way in which she fights back is incredible. She's one tough cookie and no one will stand in her way, she has strong beliefs and does not give into peer pressure, which is hard when you're in high school. As crazy as she may be she is the most passionate and caring person I know.
Favorite childhood TV show: I remember loving all Disney and Nickelodeon shows like Rocket Power, Double Dare 2000 and Legends of the Hidden Temple.
If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive: I'm going through an American Sniper phase right now, so Chris Kyle.
