Hanley Leads Women's Cross Country to First Place at Wake

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. – The Richmond Spiders women's cross country team claimed first place at the Wake Forest Invitational on Friday, October 16th.
Richmond finished in first place with 53 points and had three top 10 finishers. The Spiders were led by senior Tara Hanley, who finished in second place out of 172 competitors in the 6K-race with a time 21:31.23.
Also finishing in the top 10 were sophomore Courtney Thompson, who finished in seventh place with a time of 21:51.08 and fellow sophomore Amanda Corbosiero in 10th crossing the finish line with a time of 21:58.30.
Richmond finished in first place out of 17 varsity schools with a point tally of 53 and all top five finishers within the top 20 runners. Finishing in second place was Appalachian State with 70 points followed by the host Wake Forest with 86 points.
The Richmond women will be back in action in two weeks and will be hoping to continue their success when they compete in the Atlantic 10 Championship back at home on October 31st at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville.
