Spiders Downed 2-0 In Road Game At La Salle

PHILADELPHIA -- Richmond women's soccer made its first trip to La Salle in five years to the day, but lost 2-0 at McCarthy Stadium Thursday night in Atlantic 10 Conference play.
The loss pushes Richmond's record to 4-10-1 overall, 2-4-1 in A-10 games. La Salle improves to 7-7-2 overall, 4-3 in the A-10.
The Explorers got the only goal of the first half when Deja Davis put in a shot far post from around seven yards out to open the 28th minute of play. It was her third goal of the season and she finished with five shot attempts to lead all players in the game.
At the half, Richmond was outshot 8-2, with sophomore Lindsey Williams (Williamsburg Virginia / Warhill HS) taking both UR shots in the opening half of play.
The second half saw the Spiders able to push forward a little more. The first shot on goal for UR came when senior tri-captain Ashley Riefner (Mechanicsville, Virginia / Atlee HS) put a free kick on target, but to keeper Larissa Zambelli in the 63rd minute. Richmond was officially credited with the one shot on goal.
The Spiders produced five second-half shots, but finished at a 13-7 disadvantage in that category. Williams and sophomore Lexi Prillaman (Magnolia, Delaware) tied for the team-high with a pair of shots in the game.
Spider sophomore keeper Katie Brennan (Fairfield, Connecticut) was officially credited with five saves in the loss, dropping her 2015 record to 2-7-1.
The Spiders return home Sunday for a 1 p.m. game against Fordham at Robins Stadium. Admission is free.
