11/12/2015 | Women's Basketball
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's basketball team is finally set to begin the 2015-16 season on Friday night when it welcomes Old Dominion to the Robins Center at 3 p.m. It will be the first of four-straight home games the Spiders host to begin the regular season.
The Spiders return their top two scorers from a season ago in junior guard Janelle Hubbard (13.9) and senior guard Lauren Tolson (13.1). Both of which will likely take on an even larger scoring role this season. Hubbard was recognized by the coaches of the Atlantic 10 in the preseason as a second-team All-Conference choice.
The season-opening weekend continues on Sunday when Richmond welcomes Eastern Kentucky to the Robins Center for a 1 p.m. matinee tipoff.

Saint Joseph's, Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure, VCU, George Mason, La Salle, Massachusetts and Davidson, respectively, round out the poll behind the Spiders.
Old Dominion

The Spiders posted a 78-63 victory on the road in the most recent tilt with the Monarchs. ODU posted a 21-13 record last season with an 11-7 mark in the C-USA and would go on to upset Virginia in the opening round of the WNIT before going down at Villanova.
Eastern Kentucky
Eastern Kentucky, which calls Richmond, Ky. home, struggled to a 9-17 record a season ago with a 4-12 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference. It will be the second meeting between the two programs. The first came last year at EKU where the Spiders would come away with a 70-56 victory. Janelle Hubbard led the way for UR posting 20 in 26 minutes while handing out three assists.
