UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball program is pleased to announce the signing of four future Spiders to the 2015 signing class in the wake of National Signing Day this week.
Head coach Michael Shafer and rest of the program will welcome Jaide Hinds-Clarke, Amy Duggan, Daniella Hatcher and Ragan Wiseman into the fold when the 2016-17 season tips off.
Jaide Hinds-Clarke is a 6-1, post player from Westwood, N.J. She signs as the No. 36-ranked post in America by the Dan Olsen Collegiate Report. She is the team captain of her Westwood High School team that reached the New Jersey Group 2 State Final last season and finished No. 6 in The Record Final Top 25. The two-sport athlete was named first-team All-Bergen County and second-team All-North Jersey in 2015.
“Jaide is a high energy, athletic player,” Shafer added. “Her skills have really developed in the last two years. She will provide an immediate impact in the post with her rebounding and scoring. She is a tremendous student and highly impressive person.”
Amy Duggan, a 6-0, wing player, will come to Richmond from Norwood, Mass. She is a three-sport athlete and tri-varsity captain at Noble and Greenough as well as a member of the Bay State Jaguars AAU program. She signs as the 53rd ranked wing in America according to the ESPN High School Girls report. She has led Noble and Greenough to three Class A State Girls Basketball Championships with a 70-game winning streak, earning 2015 First Team All ISL and 2015 Class A New England ISL All-Star recognition in the process.
“We are excited to add Amy to our program,” Shafer continued. “She is a great athlete who can shoot the basketball from three-point range. She has tremendous length and size for a guard and has a great habit of winning in whatever sport she plays as a multiple sport athlete. She has an infectious personality.”
Daniella Hatcher, a 5-8, guard from Orlando, Fla. comes to Richmond from Lake Nona HS. She also contributes for the Central Florida Elite AAU program. Daniella is the 28th-ranked player in the state of Florida and a 2015 7A All-State Honorable Mention. As a captain she helped guide her school to the 2015 7A State Regional Finals.
“Daniella is a player who can make an immediate impact at the guard spot,” said Shafer. “She has great strength and size for a perimeter player and can create shots for herself and others. Her future is very bright at Richmond. She, too, is a great student and great person!”
Last but not least is Ragan Wiseman, a 6-1, forward from Floyd, Va. Wiseman comes to Richmond from Floyd County high school and the Nautlis Express AAU program. She has scored over 1,000 points in her career, received recognition as a 2015 Virginia All-State First Team choice and led Floyd County to the 2014 Virginia State Championship.
“Ragan is very skilled, tall, versatile player,” Shafer said of Wiseman. “She can score from three point range as well as on the block. She will be one of the best passers on our team, is a proven winner in high school and will be a valuable piece to our success. She is truly an amazing person and student.”
The Spiders will get their season underway this afternoon when Old Dominion comes to town. Tip off with the Lady Monarchs is scheduled for 3 p.m.
