Postgame Notes – FCS Quarterfinals – Illinois State
TEAM
- With the victory over Illinois State, Richmond improved its record on the season to 10-3, marking the team's first 10-win season since 2009 and fifth in school history (2000, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2015).
- Richmond advances to the program's first FCS Playoff Semifinal game since 2008 and third in school history (2007, 2008, 2015).
- Richmond has defeated four nationally-ranked opponents – James Madison, William & Mary (twice) and Illinois State – in a season for the first time since 2009.
- CAA Football has had a team reach at least the FCS Playoffs Semifinals the last three seasons.
- With the victory, Richmond snapped Illinois State's 19-game home winning streak – the longest in the FCS and the third-longest in the history of the Missouri Valley Football Conference.
- Richmond's 562 yards of total offense rank in a tie for eighth all-time in school history.
- In the first half, the Spiders out-gained Illinois State, 344-89, including a 274-55 advantage in passing yards.
- Richmond out-gained the Redbirds in total yards in the first quarter, 198-4.
OFFENSE
- With his 137 yards rushing, RB Jacobi Green pushed his season rushing yards total to 1,563 – ranking him fourth all-time on the team's single-season list.
- Green scored four touchdowns on the day – three rushing and one receiving – to push his season touchdown total to 22, which ranks second all-time, just one behind Tim Hightower's single-season school record.
- Green's 21 rushing scores on the year are a school record, breaking the previous mark of 20 set by Josh Vaughan (2008) and Tim Hightower (2007).
- Green posted his eighth 100-yard rushing game of the season, seventh in a row and the 10th of his career.
- WR Brian Brown extended his single-season receiving yards record to 1,362 with his 141 receiving yards against Illinois State.
- The 100-yard receiving game is Brown's seventh this season and the 14th of his career.
- QB Kyle Lauletta passed for 369 yards in the victory – his fourth 300-yard passing game of the season.
-Lauletta's 229 completions is fifth on UR's single season list. His next completion will tie him with Eric Ward (2008) for fourth and he is 11 completions shy of tying Michael Strauss (240 in 2014) for third.
- QB David Broadus' 13-yard touchdown run in the first quarter is his fourth rushing score of the season.
- PK Peter Yoder returned from missing last two game to hit a 19-yard field goal on Richmond's first drive of the game. Yoder also hit a 24-yarder in the second quarter.
- TE Stephon Jacob's 30-yard reception in the first quarter was a career long.
- With a field goal on Richmond's first drive of the game, the Spiders have now started eight of the last 10 games with a scoring drive on their opening possession.
DEFENSE
- LB Trevor Jones led the Spiders with a career-high nine tackles, including 1.0 tackles for loss.
- DB Jarriel Jordan had a career-high seven tackles.
- With LB Omar Howard's first interception of the season, Richmond has totaled 20 picks in the last 11 games, pushing the team's total on the season to a CAA-best 21.
- DL Ben Schrider recorded his first career sack in the first quarter for the Spiders.
