02/27/2015 | Women's Lacrosse
Richmond women's lacrosse looks to get back in the win column this week with a 1 p.m. road contest at Liberty Saturday afternoon at the Liberty Lacrosse Field.
The two teams met for the first time last season, with the Spiders capturing a 16-7 victory in Lynchburg.
Richmond sits at 1-3 on the young season, dropping their midweek game at Longwood on Wednesday 5-4. This came on the heels of UR's first win of the year, a 5-4 home win over American on Saturday.
Senior Emily Doyle (Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey) leads the Spiders with four goals and four assists this season. Fellow senior Bailey Zerr (Denver, Colorado) also has scored four goals on just nine shots this year. Four different Spiders have scored at least three goals so far through four games. Richmond has won the draw twice more than opponents this season, giving the team the ability to start with possession.
Liberty is 1-3 also, coming off its first win of the season Wednesday against George Washington. Teammates Katy Pridemore and Sam Struss lead the Flames with 11 goals each, while Pridemore's four assists are also tied for the team lead. Goalie Juliann Elmer has allowed 69 goals in four games, but saved 65 shots.
Richmond will return home for a pair of games next week, hosting Old Dominion Wednesday and James Madison Friday at Robins Stadium.
