BOULDER, Colo. - The University of Richmond Spiders men's cross country team ran hard this weekend at the Cross Country National Championships in Colorado.
"What a great trip to the U.S. Cross Country Championships,” head coach Steve Taylor remarked. “This meet brought together the best distance runners in the nation and our men had a great time lining up and competing with them. For our program the U.S. Cross Country Championships serve as our winter championship meet opportunity. We want our team, alumni and recruits to know that this one of our destination events for our men's program. It keeps us focused during our winter training as we move towards the spring season."
Freshman Alex Lucking ran very well for the Spiders, placing 43rd in the Junior National Championship race.
In the Senior Championship race, Richmond was led by Matt McKenna and Johnny Hogue, who placed 65th and 74th, respectively. Also in the senior race, Tim Gruber finished in 74th, while Andrew Brennan placed 81st.
