Women's Lacrosse Visits Oregon Sunday
03/15/2015 | Women's Lacrosse
After having more than a week between games, Richmond resumes its 2015 campaign with a West Coast game at Oregon, with the opening draw scheduled for 3 p.m. Eastern on Sunday.
The Spiders have spent the past few days in the Pacific Time Zone acclimating to the climate and time change, while seeing a few sites and bonding on a Spring Break week trip.
The Spiders are returning a 2008 home game to the Ducks, when Oregon won 17-5 in Richmond in the two programs' only other all-time meeting.
The Spiders are 3-4 on the season, with three of the four losses coming to teams ranked 15 or higher in two of the major women's lacrosse polls this season. Freshman Kim Egizi (Westwood, Massachusetts) is the reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after scoring a pair of goals in both of Richmond's home games last week, a 15-8 Wednesday win over Old Dominion and a 10-5 Friday loss to No. 15 James Madison.
Senior Emily Doyle (Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey) is the first Spider this season to get to 10 goals and she leads the team with 19 points. Her nine assists give her 81 for her career, second-most on Richmond's all-time list. She is just 12 away from Mandy Friend (2006-09) from the top spot in program history. Senior goalie Emily Boyce (Middletown, Maryland) is 15th in the country with 56 saves so far this season.
The Ducks (5-1) are completing a five-game home stand with the Sunday affair. Oregon has won their last three, with home blowouts over Saint Mary's and Robert Morris while squeaking out an 8-6 win over fellow A-10 member George Washington last Tuesday. The Ducks have four players this season with 10 or more goals, led by sophomore Olivia Pyne's 12. Starting redshirt freshman goalie Janelle Parker has been good in front of the cage, allowing just 27 goals in over 300 minutes of work this season. Her 5.37 goal-against average is fifth in the country, at 5.37 and the team third in the nation in scoring defense.

The Spiders will continue the two-game road trip Friday night at William & Mary, with that opening draw scheduled for 7 p.m.
