Twice a month, the Wells Fargo Spider Spotlight highlights a different student-athlete in the department. This time, women's lacrosse is in the spotlight and senior Erin Geoghan.
Erin was selected to participate in “Academics and Athletics in Spain,” a unique five-week summer study-abroad opportunity available specifically to student-athletes at UR.

Career aspirations: Accepted job from Capital One as a Technology Development Associate. By the end of my career, I hope to say confidently that I have given more young women the motivation and confidence to study math and computer science.
Three words to describe yourself: Rational, compassionate, fun-loving
Best or most memorable moment as a member of your Spider program: The first time we had a clinic with a secondary school from downtown Richmond
The best nickname on the team: “Meatball “ – aka Natalia Chaney
Strengths: Hardworking, processing new info. quickly
Toughest opponents: Duke, UMass, Duquesne
Working to improve: Individually - Left handed long passes, leadership skills, web design skills. Team - Defensively, off-ball positioning and defense on cutters; offensively, communication and fast ball movement
Best sports memory: Can't choose just one!
Favorite meal: Mom's crab soup appetizer and pretty much anything that follows it
Favorite ice cream: Anything vanilla based with Reese's cups in it
On your playlist: Everything I like!
Most embarrassing thing on your playlist: Dominic the Donkey
If you have one wish: I wish that everybody had a home, because I love mine so much
What most people don't know about you: I loved in La Jolla, near San Diego, for a year in kindergarten
If you could go on any game show: Jeopardy
Hidden talent: I don't have many talents and those I do have I don't keep hidden, but I guess you could say most people don't know that I can knit
Dream car: An autonomous car, I'm expecting they will have some nice designs soon enough
If you could travel anywhere in the world: Italy and Greece...well and Ireland, and Indonesia. I really plan to travel everywhere.
Favorite class: Number Theory or Game Theory….or Simulation
Pets: Well independently only a hamster, but, at home we have a yellow lab and a schnoodle. And another yellow lab who is a service dog in training, he graduates from us in May.

Favorite childhood TV show: Spongebob
If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive: Sophie Germain (1776-1831), she, despite opposition from her family and society, is one of the most influential female mathematicians of all time and has a particular type of prime number named after her (Germain primes). It is conjectured there are infinitely many Germain primes.
If you could have any superpower: Control inanimate objects with my mind
