
Women's Lacrosse Sees Five Earn League Honors

Richmond Spider freshman Kim Egizi (Westwood, Massachusetts) was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Year, and the Spiders landed three players on the All-Conference rosters, the league announced today. The first and second teams and All-Rookie teams were selected by a vote of the league's head coaches.
Egizi won the Rookie of the Week award in the league four times during the regular season. She finished tied for third in assists with 15 and third overall in points with 28 in the eight conference games. Overall, she finished second for the Spiders with 40 points with 22 goals and 18 assists.
Richmond placed a pair of Spiders on the First-Team All-A-10 squad. Senior attack and Richmond leading scorer Emily Doyle (Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey) was second in the league in assists and second in points with 29 goals and 30 assists to lead the Spiders. She repeats on the First-Team list. During the season she broke the program's all-time career assist mark, becoming the first player to cross the 100-assist barrier. She enters the A-10 Championships this weekend with 102 for her career.
Senior defender Erin Marie Geoghan (Highland, Maryland) also earned First-Team honors. She led the defensive side of the field and was consistently matched up against the best attackers in the league. She led the Spiders with 14 caused turnovers.
Senior Anna Jeszeck (Cortlandt Manor, New York) was a Second-Team All-Atlantic 10 selection, as she was in 2014. She started all 17 games as a captain in the midfield and was fourth in goals (23) and points (31) for the Spiders. She was also good at winning the draw, with 29 draw controls, third-most on the team.
In addition to Egizi, freshman Caroline Queally (Riverside, Connecticut) also found herself on the A-10 All-Rookie Team. She finished second in the league in the eight conference games with 4.13 draw controls per game. Overall, she was second in the squad with 49 through the Spiders' 17-game schedule.
In a separate vote by the league's Sports Information Directors, Jeszeck was also named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team for the second straight season. The three-time Dean's List honoree will graduate next weekend with a degree in Business Administration, with concentrations in marketing and finance. She has already secured employment with LeadDog Marketing in New York City.
Richmond will face Duquesne in the second semifinal of the Atlantic 10 Championships Friday afternoon at George Washington. The game will be streamed on the Atlantic 10 Digital Network. The winners advance to the Championship game on Sunday at noon. The Spiders have reached the finals in four of the past five seasons.
