Spiders Face Duke Wednesday At Durham Bulls Athletic Park

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Spiders baseball team will head south to face ACC-foe Duke at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Scouting the Spiders
The University of Richmond Spiders come in to Wednesday's game having won eight-straight and 11 of their last 12 games overall, pushing their overall record to 17-8 on the season.
The Richmond offense has been one of the most potent in the country in 2015. Richmond ranks third in the nation in scoring (8.3), fourth in home runs per game (1.20), eighth in slugging percentage (.475) and 28th in batting average (.299).
Freshman Kyle Adams leads the team with a .407 batting average, while OF Michael Morman has driven in a team-high 28 runs this season. 3B Matt Dacey leads the Spiders with seven home runs and 10 doubles on the year.
The pitching staff has been very good as well for UR this season, posting a team ERA of 3.75 – fourth-best in the Atlantic 10. RHP Justin Garcia (2-0) will get the start for the Spiders against the Blue Devils on Wednesday. The freshman has posted an ERA of 3.60 with 12 strikeouts 15 innings pitched.
Scouting the Blue Devils
The Duke University Blue Devils have a pair of midweek games this week. Duke will face Davidson on Tuesday before playing the Spiders on Wednesday. Duke enters Tuesday's game with Davidson having lost seven-straight games, dropping its overall record to 19-13 on the year.
Pitching has been the strength for the Blue Devils this season, posting a team ERA of 3.13 with 285 strikeouts in 284.1 innings pitched. Offensively, Duke is hitting .258 as a team with seven home runs and 52 doubles.
On Deck
The Richmond Spiders will host Sacred Heart this weekend at Pitt Field for a three-game, non-conference series. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12 p.m. Sunday's finale is slated for 12 p.m.
