Richmond Swimming And Diving 2014-15 Season Recap

Following the conclusion of the NCAA Zones, here is a recap of the 2015 Richmond Swimming and Diving season.
- The Spiders captured their fifth-straight Atlantic 10 Conference Swimming and Diving Championship, the 13th in the past 14 seasons
- For the first time in school history, Richmond had the Most Outstanding Diver, won by sophomore Irina Chiulli
- Richmond freshman Annie Lane was named the Most Outstanding Freshman at the meet, the 10th time in 14 years of league membership a UR swimmer won it.
- Juniors Kelley Yang and Melissa Ross were named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team
- Yang won one of each of the three medals in her individual events, setting a new Championship Meet record with a 53.65-second time in the 100 Butterfly for gold
- The Spiders scored 586 points, winning by 88 points as the league added new member Davidson for the 2015 Championships
- Richmond won medals in four (a gold, two silvers and a bronze) of the five team relays
- All three Richmond divers scored in both the 1m and 3m events for the second-straight year after pulling the triple last year for the first time since 2003. This is the first time all three divers scored in both events in back-to-back years since becoming an Atlantic 10 Conference member in 2001.
- Chiulli won the 3m to take Richmond's first Atlantic 10 diving gold. She is the first Richmond diver to win an Atlantic 10 gold medal and the second UR diver ever to capture gold in a conference meet.
- Spiders won eight medals, including four gold medals, adding four times in fourth and five in fifth place, earning a spot in the finals 39 times
- Yang was 0.33 seconds from the school record time in the 100 fly, while Ross was just 0.17 from the record in the 200 fly
- Lane set the Richmond freshman mark in the 100 breast, with a 1:02.11
- Chiulli set a new school record with her three-meter score of 314.60
- The senior class, with all five graduating this May, won four A-10 Championships in their career
- Sophomore diver Irina Chiulli and freshman Laura Rokop both competed at the NCAA Diving Zones in Buffalo
- The Spiders captured three Performer of the Week and five Rookie Performer of the Week honors, with senior Anna Fetter winning on 1/27, and Chiulli winning 1/13 and 11/25, with Lane earning Rookie honor on 1/27, 11/11 and 10/14, and Rokop winning on 1/20 and Erin Barry taking the Rookie award on 10/21
