Former Spider Ben Edwards Signs Contract With N.Y. Giants

NEW YORK – Former University of Richmond Spiders football standout WR Ben Edwards was signed to a contract by the New York Giants following the team's rookie minicamp this past weekend.
Edwards is the third former Spider student-athlete currently on the Giants roster, joining DB Cooper Taylor and DL Kerry Wynn. Edwards is the sixth former Richmond football standout currently on a NFL roster.
The Yorktown, Va. product was a two-time First-Team All-CAA selection and a two-time winner of the Touchdown Club of Richmond Division I National End/Wide Receiver of the Year award for the Spiders.
Edwards graduated from Richmond as one of the most prolific receivers in program history, ranking second in career receptions (208) and sixth in career receiving yards (2,197).
The Richmond Spiders football team will open the 2015 season on the road in College Park, Md. against Big Ten foe Maryland on September 5.
