
UR's Kim Egizi Named All-State Rookie Of The Year

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Richmond freshman midfielder Kim Egizi (Westwood, Massachusetts) was named the 2015 All-State University Division Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Year as voted on by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID). In the same vote, Virginia attacker Casey Bocklet (South Salem, N.Y..) was named the Player of the Year, and James Madison's Shelley Klaes-Bawcombe was named the VaSID All-State Coach of the Year
Additionally, the organization voted 11 players to the VaSID University Division Women's Lacrosse first team and recognized an additional 11 players with second-team honors. James Madison had five players earn a spot on the first team with four Virginia players and one player from Longwood, Liberty and Old Dominion rounding out the squad. Egizi was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year as well as being named to the All-Freshman Team. Egizi finished second on the Spiders in assists and fifth in goals and led team in shots-on-goal percentage. Egizi scored the game-tying goal and assisted on the overtime winner in crucial win for Richmond over Davidson. The Spiders posted their second-straight winning season, making it the first time since 2006 and 2007 that Richmond had consecutive winning campaigns.
Bocklet, an IWLCA First Team All-American, leads the ACC in points per game (4.05) and ranks second in assists per game (1.74) and 11th in goals per game (2.32). A member of the 2015 All-ACC First Team and a Tewaaraton Trophy nominee, Bocklet was just the ninth player in Virginia history to tally over 200 points in her career, finishing with 205. Bocklet also ranks fifth on the Virginia career assists list with 83. This season, the three-time ACC Player of the Week had a team-best 77 points with 44 goals and 33 assists. Bocklet was also named the VaSID State Player of the Year in 2013.
Klaes-Bawcombe led the Dukes to a 15-5 overall record, the CAA Tournament title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. She surpassed the 100-win mark in her JMU career and her 150-win overall mark this season with the Dukes' 22-5 win over Elon on April 10. She has also been selected as the head coach for the North-South All-Star game this season, her third time being selected as the coach for this event. She first was at the helm in 2001 for the North team when she was the head coach at Hofstra and then was picked to lead the South team in 2010 during her tenure at JMU.
