Four Spiders Earn Preseason All-CAA Recognition

BALTIMORE – University of Richmond Spiders RB Seth Fisher, WR's Brian Brown and Reggie Diggs along with PK Peter Yoder were selected to the CAA Preseason All-Conference Team on Tuesday at the league's annual Media Day held at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens.
Richmond and rival William & Mary lead the preseason All-Conference Team with four selections apiece, followed by New Hampshire, Maine and Delaware with three each.
This is the third preseason accolade for Fisher who has already been tabbed as a First-Team Preseason All-American by STATS and USA College Football. Fisher led the team with 777 rushing yards on 170 carries with 12 touchdowns a season ago while also catching 17 passes for 139 yards and four touchdowns. In the wake of the Spiders' first playoff berth since 2009 he would be named to the Second-Team VaSID All-State, All-CAA First Team and earn All-American recognition from Beyond Sports Network and The Sports Network.
USA College Football has already chosen Brown as an Honorable Mention Preseason All-American in addition to his CAA recognition. Last season the Richmond native earned Third-Team All-CAA honors and Second-Team All-CAA distinction from College Sports Madness after appearing in 14 games, making 10 starts. He would total 1,089 receiving yards on 79 receptions with four touchdowns while tallying 59 rushing yards on seven attempts. His 79 receptions rank fourth in a single-season in Richmond history while his 1,089 receiving yards rank sixth.
Diggs is also a Preseason All-American via USA College Football, having been chosen to the Second-Team. During his junior campaign the Dendron, Va. native earned All-CAA Second-Team, VaSID All-State Second-Team and College Sports Madness First-Team All-CAA honors. He led the Spiders with 85 receptions, which rank second all-time in single-season history, for 1,157 yards and seven touchdowns. Those 1,157 yards rank third all-time.
Yoder will enter his junior season as a Second-Team Preseason All-American according to USA College Football after earning All-CAA Second-Team honors and College Sports Madness Second-Team All-CAA honors last year. The Dallas native set the Richmond single-season school record with 19 field goals made on the season. He converted on 19-27 field goals and 36-38 PATs on the year.
Villanova landed the top spot in CAA Football's preseason predicted order of finish. The Wildcats received 14 of a possible 24 first-place votes in the poll. Richmond settled in 5th behind James Madison, New Hampshire and William & Mary, respectively.
CAA Football's preseason All-Conference Team and predicted order of finish were voted on by the league's head coaches and media relation's directors.
