NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Richmond junior Kelly Quinn was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Quinn scored the game-winning goal in double overtime with less than two minutes remaining to defeat UMass on the road on Sunday. A native of Marlton, N.J., the forward currently leads Richmond with three goals on the season.
The Spiders (4-4, 2-0) opened the conference season with consecutive road wins over Lock Haven and UMass, two of the top teams in the conference. UR allowed just one goal over the two games, powered by outstanding defense and timely offensive breakthroughs.
For Quinn, the award was her first weekly honor from the Atlantic 10 this season, and second weekly honor for the Spiders this season.
Richmond will travel to William & Mary on Friday at 6 p.m., followed by a home game on Sunday against Delaware at noon.
