Spiders Compete at Sacramento Capital Cross Challenge

SACRAMENTO, Cal. – The University of Richmond women's cross country team finished sixth among 16 Division-I opponents over the weekend at the Sacramento Capital Cross Challenge, posting a 21:42 average in the 6K race.
Junior Kylie Regan was the pacesetter for the Spider women on the west coast. She ran a 21:27.8 to cross the line in the 26th position, just a few seconds ahead of surging freshman Claire Brown (21:29.9), who finished 28th as the team held a 1-5 split of 43 seconds.
The Richmond men finished 10th among 11 Division-I opponents in the 8K race, paced by Alex Lucking who posted a 45th-place finish with a time of 24:53.9 and freshman Miles Clikeman who ran 24:58.3 in his first 8K race. The men's one through five team average was 25:54.
Both teams will return to the course on Friday, Oct. 14 at the High Point Invitational in Kernersville, N.C. at Beeson Park. That will be the final tune-up before Richmond returns home to Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville for the 2016 Atlantic 10 Championships.
