10/05/2016 | Field Hockey
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- After scoring her first career goal at Saint Joseph's on Friday, field hockey's Olivia Hubert was tabbed the Wells Fargo Student-Athlete of the Week.
Hubert found the back of the cage for the first time in her career on Friday off a corner that resulted in the Spiders taking a 3-2 lead over St. Joseph's. The sophomore then followed it up with a goal in a 2-1 road victory at La Salle on Sunday.
The Stafford, Va. native has played in all 11 games this season with three shots on goal, two of which found their way past the keeper. The Spiders (5-6, 3-2 A10) host Massachusetts Sunday in an Atlantic 10 showdown at Crenshaw Field. The game is slated for 12p.m. and will be available on the Atlantic 10 Network.
What were your thoughts after scoring your first career goal on Friday?
I was extremely excited to say the least. My first reaction was to jump up and celebrate with my teammates. We had been working hard to execute and finish on corners and it felt so accomplishing to contribute.
What is the mindset going into the last few weeks of the season?
Going into the next few weeks our team is focusing on the small details that need to be refined. This ensures that when we are out on the field for game day we are prepared to get the job done and continue to the next challenge.
What is your favorite place to visit?
My favorite place to visit would probably be upstate New York. My dad is from the Lake George area and it's always a special trip visiting family and exploring around in the Adirondacks.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I taught myself how to play the ukulele one summer... I'm not the best, but I know a few songs!
What would your dream job be?
My dream job would be a photographer for National Geographic. I'm not studying to be a photographer or anything, but I think that would be the life; to travel the world, discovering interesting things, while documenting all of it with amazing pictures.
When you aren't in class, studying or playing field hockey, what are you most likely doing?
When I'm not playing field hockey or in class I'm most likely hanging out with my friends when I'm at school. At home I spend a lot of time with my family. Recently, we've taken on hiking as a family hobby.
