LAST TIME OUT
Richmond struggled mightily at William & Mary (1-1) on Friday night after falling behind early and never fully recovering to take a 67-39 defeat at the hands of the Tribe. The Spiders managed to put just one player in double-figures in Micaela Parson who salvaged 12 points on 3-7 shooting. She scored in double-digits for the 26th time in her career and 12th consecutive game. Eight other Spiders contributed to the scoring, including Dee Hatcher who scored the first points of her career and Taisha Murphy who scored the first points of her season on a pair of triples in the third quarter.
FRESHMEN HIGHLIGHT OPENER
Freshman Jaide Hinds-Clarke came off the bench to score seven points and grab eight rebounds in just 14 minutes during her Spider debut. Fellow freshmen Ragan Wiseman and Dee Hatcher also made their debuts on Sunday, combining for 23 minutes.
LAUREN FINDS THE RANGE
Tolson struggled shooting the ball in her first game back from injury against Columbia but was huge for the Spiders against UVA, knocking down a trio of triples, including two in the fourth quarter that helped Richmond tie the score late.
HUDALLA HYSTERIA
Junior forward Alicia Hudalla did not find her way onto the floor in the season opener opposite Columbia but made up for it by earning the first start of her career against Virginia and did not disappoint. Hudalla scored six points, including the game-tying basket with just over one minute to play; grabbed six rebounds and even handed out an assist.
BIG HOME DATE
Penn will visit the Robins Center for the first time since 1995 having never beaten the Richmond Spiders in seven tries. Penn went 24-5 last season, earning a share of the Ivy League title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament as a 10-seed before going down to eventual Final Four team Washington.
