Spiders Put On Impressive Performance At Liberty Quad

Lynchburg, V.A. - The Richmond Spiders put on a great display on Friday, February 12th at the Liberty Quad. The Spiders came away with two victories in the 4 x 400m relay race and Colleen Carney in the 3000m.
In the 4 x 400 meter relay, the Spider team consisted of Mary Allen, Marshea Robinson, Jade Gregory and Haley Preschutti crushed the competition finishing in first place with a time of 3:56.62.
Freshman Colleen Carney came away with an individual victory in the 3000m race. Carney finished first out 17 competitors with a time of 10:29.90.
Sarah Timko tied the Spiders indoor school record in the pole vault for the second time this season with a 3.45m clearance.
Sprinter Janel Francis finished in second place in the 60m with a time of 7.88 second, her season best. Also finishing in second place was Haley Preschutti, who continued her impressive day in the 800m finishing in 2:17.90.
In the 1000m, Spiders finished in second through fourth, with Emma Slevin (3:00.30) finishing second, Sarah Hipwell (3:01.46) in third and Kylie Regan (3:02.73) finishing in fourth.
The one mile run saw Spiders finish back to back with Marisa Ruskan finishing in third place with a time of 5:11.41 with freshman Ave Grosenheider finishing right behind her in fourth with a time of 5:11.79.
The Richmond Spiders women's indoor track & field will be back on the track at the Atlantic 10 Championships on Friday and Saturday February 19-20 at the University of Rhode Island.
