Chiulli Paces Spiders Against Virginia

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Junior Irina Chiulli led the way for the Richmond Diving team in the Spiders final preparation before the Atlantic 10 Championship, as the Spiders fell to No. 8 Virginia, 24-14, Friday evening at the Robins Center Natatorium.
Chiulli led the way on the 3m spring board posting a score of 310.66, Sophomore Laura Rokop recorded a score of 257.33 while junior Mikaela Gekas-Robinson finished with a 239.01.
The Cavaliers were led by Becca Corbett, who registered a score of 291.83 while Katie Warburg rounded out the top three. Corbett competed in the NCAA Championship last season in all three levels (1m, 3m and the platform event).
In the 1m portion of the meet, UVA took the top spot with Corbett's score of 282.75. Chiulli led the Spiders with a third place finish with a score of 271.27.
At least two Spiders will face the Virginia divers again at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championship in Annapolis, Md. on March 7-9.
The Spiders will return to the water at the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship as UR looks for its sixth-straight conference title. The championship is set for February 17-20 in Geneva, Ohio.
