UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond men's lacrosse player Mitch Goldberg continues an outstanding career with one of the highest honors in college lacrosse.
The junior has been named to the 2016 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, which includes the top players in NCAA lacrosse. The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are comprised of premier college coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
Goldberg is the first Richmond men's lacrosse player to earn this honor since the start of the program in 2014. He currently leads the Spiders in points (22), goals (17) and is tied for second in assists (5).
As a sophomore in 2015, the Damascus, Maryland native rounded out the season by recording at least one point in 23-consecutive contests.
A two-time all conference nominee, Goldberg is the program's all-time leading scorer in both points and goals while starting all but one game in Richmond's history.
Five men's and five women's finalists for the Tewaaraton Award will be announced on May 12 and invited to the ceremony. The 16th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will be held in Washington, D.C., on June 2.
