Spiders Off To Strong Start With Four Wins At Tribe Invite

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The 2016 Richmond Outdoor Track & Field season started with a second place finish at the Tribe Invitational on Saturday, March 19th, hosted by William & Mary. The Spiders claimed four first place finishes in Amanda Corbosiero, Janel Francis, Jade Gregory and Liz Montague.
Sophomore Amanda Corbosiero finished in first place in the 800 meter run, crossing with a time of 2:11.88. The Spiders went on to claim all top three spots with senior Taylor Clevinger (2:12.95) and sophomore Haley Preschutti (2:14.95) claiming second and third.
Richmond would take two other running victories, senior Janel Francis won the 100 meter dash in 12.58 seconds and Jade Gregory won the 200 meter dash in 25.30 seconds.
Sophomore Liz Montague also claimed first place in the long jump recording a 5.07 meter jump that gave the Spiders 10 points.
The Richmond women finished in second place out of three division one schools with 95.50 points. Host school William and Mary took first with 256 points, while fellow Atlantic 10 competitor George Mason finished in third with 72.50 total points.
The Spiders will be back next weekend when they host the annual Fred Hardy Invitational.
