ANNAPOLIS, Md. – While most University of Richmond students are enjoying some down time on spring break, junior Irina Chiulli and sophomore Laura Rokop of the Spiders' swimming & diving team are on a quest for a spot at the NCAA Championships later this month in Atlanta.
Chiulli and Rokop will be a part of both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships in Annapolis this week.
Over sixty divers are registered for each event with five advancing to NCAA Chamiponships in the 1-meter and six in the 3-meter.
Chiulli had two top four-finishes at the Atlantic 10 Championships including her second straight gold medal in the 3-meter with a 303.30 on the springboard.
Rokop finished seventh in the event with a score of 228.70.
Both today's (1-meter) and tomorrow (3-meter) will get underway at 12 p.m. Lejeune Hall on the campus of the Naval Academy.
