GameDay Central: Richmond vs. Bellarmine
04/16/2016 | Men's Lacrosse
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – In the midst of the best season in program history, the University of Richmond men's lacrosse team returns home for its final two regular season home games, first hosting Bellarmine on what is sure to be a sun-splashed Saturday afternoon at Robins Stadium.
With a victory today, the Spiders will lock up a spot in the SoCon Tournament, which will be hosted at Robins Stadium on May 5 and 7.
Senior Alex Hatem was the hero in Richmond's last victory, firing home the game-tying goal with less than three minutes to play and finding the back of the net in triple OT to propel the Spiders to a thrilling 6-5 win at Furman last Saturday.
The defense continues to be the Spiders calling card, ranking eighth in the country, allowing less than eight goals per game. Tom Monzo, Brendan Hynes and Ryan Dennis have been the only three defensive starters in program history.
Richmond has suffered the injury bug of late, playing without two of their most established and talented players in junior attacker Mitch Goldberg and junior goalie Benny Pugh.
Today's game can be seen on SpiderTV live at 3:30 p.m.
