Corbosiero Wins 1500 Meter, Spiders Finish Eighth

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Amanda Corbosiero took first place in the 1500 meters as the Spiders finished eighth out of 60 division one schools at the Colonial Relays. The three day event was hosted by William & Mary.
Sophomore Amanda Corbosiero won the 1500 meter race finishing with a time of 4:22.47. That time is her new personal record and is currently leading the Atlantic 10 this outdoor season. Her time also ranks 13th this season in the NCAA and seventh in the NCAA East Region. Corbosiero also ranks third all-time in Richmond history with that victory.
The Spiders finished in second place in the 4 x 800 meter race with a time of 9:00.49. The team consisted of Stephanie Hughes, Amanda Corbosiero, Haley Preschutti and Taylor Clevinger.
Richmond continued to impress in the relay races with an all-freshman team finishing fifth in the distance medley relay. The team consisted of Eryn Mills, Marshea Robinson, Emma Slevin and Ave Grosenheider, finishing with a time of 12:10.35.
The Spiders overall had a good weekend, in the 10,000 meter race, senior Tara Hanley finished in second place clocking a 37:11.90 time. Jade Gregory finished third in the 400 meter dash (54.57) and Mary Allen finished fourth among collegiate runners in the 200 meter dash (24.46). Senior Janel Francis also finished third in the long jump, recording a 5.76m jump.
