UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – It's going to be an exciting summer for the University of Richmond women's lacrosse coaching staff.
After assistant coach Bridget Bianco was drafted by the Philadelphia Force into the United Women's Lacrosse League (UWLX), head coach Allison Kwolek has also been asked to join the first professional women's lacrosse league as a part of the Boston Storm coaching staff.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of the Boston Storm in the inaugural season of the United Women's Lacrosse League,” Kwolek said. “This league is a great addition to our sport and this will be a terrific opportunity to work with the best players in the game.”
Kwolek will serve as an assistant coach for the Storm and will join Dartmouth head coach Amy Patton, who she worked with for two years as an assistant coach for the Big Green.
While at Dartmouth, Kwolek and Patton guided the Big Green to back-to-back NCAA appearances in 2011 and 2012, and the school's first-ever Ivy League Tournament title in 2012 to go along with five wins over top-20 opponents.
“I'm looking forward to coaching with Amy Patton again and can't wait to get started with the Storm,” she added.
The league will start play over Memorial Day weekend at the US Lacrosse National Tournament. The Storm will take on the Force on Saturday at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, with game time set for 5:15 pm EST.
