Gitman Named Atlantic 10 Postgraduate Scholar

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Richmond women's tennis player Emily Gitman has made the most of her time as a Spider, both athletically and academically.
Topping off a great career, Gitman has been named a recipient of the Atlantic 10 Postgraduate Scholarship and is one of 14 graduating student-athletes awarded the opportunity to continue her education through the program.
Gitman, a seven-time Dean's List recipient, was named to the Atlantic 10 All- Academic team in 2015 and 2016. A team captain on the Women's Tennis team, she also was named the Richmond Student- Athlete of the Year in 2014 and 2015 and the recipient of the 2016 Presidential Citation Award.
A nominee for this year's Herb Peterson Award, Gitman received the 2015 Scholarship Key Award given to the senior with the highest GPA in the Robins School of Business. She is also a member of the international business fraternity Beta Gamma Sigma and has been heavily involved with organizations such as Trick or Treat Street (TOTS), VITA Richmond and PaintYourWish, in which she was the founder.
About the Atlantic 10 Postgraduate Scholarship:
Designed to provide graduating student-athletes the opportunity to continue their college education, the program awards $70,000 in scholarship funding to former A-10 student-athletes. All 14 honorees will receive $5,000 to contribute towards full-time enrollment in a graduate or professional program.
