Richmond Women's Golf Completes Historic Season At NCAAs

PALO ALTO, Calif. - Richmond's historic women's golf season came to an end on Saturday at the NCAA Stanford Regional.
The Spiders finished the regional in 17th place, equal to their original seeding heading in. UR shot 313 (+29) on the final day and finished at +79 for tournament. All but three of the schools ahead of them were nationally ranked.
Freshman Sophie DiPetrillo finished as the Spiders' top scorer, shooting 77 (+6) in the final round to finish with a tournament score of +17 place 67th overall.
Classmate Annie Collom also shot 77 on the final round to finish in a tie for 74th overall with a tournament score of +20.
In her final round as a Richmond Spider, senior Jessica Lydia rebounded from a tough seven-over start, shooting even par on her last 11 holes to finish at 78 (+7) for the day. Lydia was UR's fourth-best scorer over the tournament with a final of +28.
Freshman Isabella Rusher shot an 84 in her final round, but was still UR's second-best scorer overall. She finished the tournament at +19 in a tie for 72nd.
Sophomore Elsa Diaz shot 81 on Saturday and finished at +31.
The Spiders conclude an historic season that saw Richmond win two tournaments, including the Patriot League Championship. Rusher set a new school record for lowest single round, while the Spiders had tournaments with five different players all shooting the lowest scores.
Lydia ends her time at UR with a career stroke average of 77.57, ranking second all-time in the Spider record books.
