OMAHA, Neb. -- Every four years, an elite group of swimmers will put their talents on the national stage, as they look to make the United States Olympic Team roster.
The University of Richmond swimming program will be well represented at the U.S. Team Trials in Omaha this week with rising junior Erin Barry, alum Lauren Hines, and incoming freshman Hannah Gouger will all compete against the sports elite.
This is the fourth-consecutive Olympic Trials that Richmond will be represented in the pool, and the second time Hines will compete at the Trials.
Hines and Gouger will both compete in the 100m backstroke, which is set for Monday morning, while Barry will race in the 200m breaststroke on Thursday.
"After high school I was less than a second off the cut, so I had that goal coming into college," said Barry. "I think knowing that other swimmers from Richmond also went to Trials, helped me to believe that is something I could accomplish over my time here."
