UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The expectations of excellence around the University of Richmond men's lacrosse team does not stop on the field of play.
Expectations are high both on and off the field and the Spiders have succeeded in both areas throughout the program's three years of existence. Because of those high expectations, 20 student-athletes were honored by the Southern Conference this week with a spot on the league's yearly honor roll.
The academic honor roll originated in 1988-89, when SoCon athletic directors established the award as a way to recognize the league's outstanding student-athletes. The academic honor roll consists of student-athletes who participated in a varsity sport and posted a 3.0 grade point average or higher for the academic year.
“We're very proud of our guys for pushing themselves in the classroom. We take great pride in developing our student-athletes into the best people they can be and that includes challenging in all facets,” Head Dan Chemotti said.
Spiders who were honored by the SoCon include: seniors Alex Hatem and Tom Monzo; juniors Ryan Berning, Henry Buonagurio, Jackson Cabot, Vinny Colapinto, Dan Ginestro, Mitch Goldberg and Brendan Hynes; sophomores Ryan Bonomi, Layne Collins, Anthony Faraino, Eric Haehl, Oli Merison, Dean Roseman, Garrett Smith and Jack Worstell; and freshmen Kyle Buser, Nathan Emery and Adrian Nash.
