08/01/2016 | Football
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Not since 2009, the year after the Spiders won the national championship, has there been this much excitement and anticipation surrounding the Richmond football program.
That excitement and anticipation will elevate even higher this week as the Spiders are set to open camp for the fifth time with reigning CAA Coach of the Year Danny Rocco at the helm.
Rocco and his staff will welcome over 90 student-athletes to campus on Wednesday, before practice officially starts on Thursday, August 4 at Robins Stadium.
Full in-depth coverage of the Spiders will be available through our Training Camp Central Page, our social media channels and through the #OneRichmond hashtag.
Training Camp Central will provide position breakdowns, player features, mic'd up segments and much, much more!
Richmond returns 16 starters from last year's team that was selected as the preseason favorite to win the CAA, along with having the league's preseason offensive and defensive players of the year in Kyle Lauletta and David Jones.
The 2016 home opener is set for Saturday, Sept. 10 when Norfolk State visits for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff. Don't miss out on the home opener and for the first-time ever, fireworks at Robins Stadium!
