Women's Lacrosse Welcomes Eleven Newcomers

UNIVERISITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – With the start of the 2016-17 academic year, University of Richmond women's lacrosse head coach Allison Kwolek introduces 11 newcomers to the squad for the upcoming season.
A transfer from Towson, sophomore midfielder Katie Sciandra is joined by ten true freshmen for the 2016 season – attacker Sam Geiersbach, midfielders Madison Ostrick, Allie Geiger, Reagan Williams, Maddie Finnen, Morgan Caron and Meghan Quinn, defenders Katie Vates and Abby Lord, and goalkeeper Megan Gianforte.

Sam Geiersbach – 3 – West Babylon, New York
Coach Kwolek on Geiersbach: “Sam is a talented attacker who can find the back of the net. Along with her ability to finish, she has great vision and stick skills.”
MIDFIELD
Madison Ostrick – 1 – Medford, New York
Coach Kwolek on Ostrick: “Madison is a fast and athletic midfielder. She's a workhorse and I look forward to seeing the impact that she'll have in the midfield for us.”
Allie Geiger – 9 – Rumson, New Jersey
Coach Kwolek on Geiger: “Allie is a strong two-way player. She has the ability to create on offense and the footwork to stay in front of attackers on defense.”
Reagan Williams – 11 – Greenland, New Hampshire
Coach Kwolek on Williams: “Reagan is a feisty competitor who has incredible game IQ. I'm excited to watch her make the transition to the collegiate game.”
Maddie Finnen – 17 – Chatham, New Jersey
Coach Kwolek on Finnen: “Maddie is a tenacious midfielder. She's aggressive and fights for every possession.”
Morgan Caron – 21 – Hingham, Massachusetts
Coach Kwolek on Caron: “Morgan is a true midfielder. She has great footwork on defense, speed in the midfield and can finish on the offensive end.”
Meghan Quinn – 30 – Baltimore, Maryland
Coach Kwolek on Quinn: “Meghan is a smart and fluid player. She'll make immediate contributions to the team through her consistency and strong work ethic on the field.”
Katie Sciandra – 35 – Vienna, Virginia
Coach Kwolek on Sciandra: “Katie is a powerful midfielder who can create lanes to cage. With a year of collegiate lacrosse already under her belt, Katie comes in adding tremendous depth to our midfield line.”
DEFENSE
Katie Vates – 5 – Holmdel, New Jersey
Coach Kwolek on Vates: “Katie is a scrappy defender who brings a tireless work ethic to the team. She has a lot of growth ahead of her and I'm excited to start working with her this fall.”
Abby Lord – 20 – Wayne, Pennsylvania
Coach Kwolek on Lord: “Abby is a smart defender who plays her angles well. Her lacrosse IQ and strength will be a huge asset to our team defense.”
GOALIE
Megan Gianforte – 32 – Brielle, New Jersey
Coach Kwolek on Gianforte: “Megan is a dynamic goalie. She has great reflexes in the cage and can also step out of the crease and make plays.”
