UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond women's lacrosse head coach Allison Kwolek has announced the hire of Jenna Slowey as an assistant coach for the 2017 season.
"I am excited to announce Jenna as our new assistant coach," Kwolek said. "She brings a lot of enthusiasm and passion for the game. Her on-field experience as well as her role as a leader during her collegiate career makes her a great addition to our program."
A former player at Fairfield, Slowey brings a wealth of experience to the sidelines for the Spiders. She will focus on the offensive aspects of the game to complement the expertise of both Kwolek and assistant coach Bridget Bianco.
She brings experience in developing practice schedules and assisting athletes throughout the college recruiting process from her time as head coach for South Jersey Select Lacrosse Club, a position she has held every summer since 2011.
“There's a great sense of community here, which is so important,” Slowey said. “Everyone in the department – all the staff, the coaches, the administration – create a feeling of family, and I'm excited to be a part of that.”
A native of Moorestown, New Jersey, Slowey was a student-athlete for the Stags for four seasons, serving as team captain as a senior in 2014. She was named to the All-MAAC Second Team, as well as the All-Tournament Team in 2013. As a freshman, Slowey was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week twice.
Slowey played in every game during her college career, and finished her career fifth all-time in game-winning goals.
She was also strong academically, earning All-MAAC Academic Team honors from 2012-14 and being named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll in 2013 and 2014. She was also a member of the “3.0 Club” at Fairfield every semester.
Slowey graduated from Fairfield in 2014 with a degree in Marketing.
