QUICK SLANTS
- Richmond returns to CAA action and back to its quest for a fifth CAA Championship when it hosts today at Robins Stadium. The Spiders' four conference titles since 2007 is the most by any CAA program over that stretch.
- The Spiders have won 15 of their past 21 CAA contests dating back to the 2013 season.
- Since joining the league in 2007, the Spiders are one of just four programs to win 45 or more conference games over that stretch, along with UNH, Villanova and JMU.
- The Spiders are coming off a thrilling 38-31 win over #23 Colgate this past Saturday, Richmond's fourth straight win over a nationally-ranked opponent.
- Richmond now hosts Towson, a team that has always given the Spiders a tough game. In the past three meetings (since 2010), the total points scored are separated by just three points (Richmond 88, Towson 85).
- In the nine all-time meetings with Towson, the Spiders have had success scoring the ball, averaging 30.6 points per game, including 32.7 points per game in the six CAA meetings between the schools.
- Richmond is on a quest to make history in today's game. A win today would extend the Spiders' home winning streak to 10 games, which would be the longest such streak in program history. The current nine-game winning streak is tied with three other times in school history (1918-20, 1968-70, 1984-86).
- Today's matchup is expected to be the 25th sellout in the six-plus year history of Robins Stadium. The Spiders are 29-10 (.744) here at the stadium. During Coach Rocco's four-plus seasons, Richmond is 23-5 (.821) inside the friendly confines.
- Richmond is 24-12 (.667) in home conference games since joining the league in 2007.
- Senior Brian Brown etched his name at the top of the record books with last week's seven-catch, 148-yard performance, becoming the program's all-time leader in receiving yards with 3,178. He and Tre Gray (2008-11) are the only players in school history with over 3,000 yards receiving. Brown needed 52 fewer catchs than Gray to break the all-time record.
- True freshman Xavier Goodall was named the CAA Co-Rookie of the Week after his 20-carry, 127-yard performance last week against Colgate. He is the first freshman since Uly Scott in 1991 with a 100-plus yard rushing game.
- Kyle Lauletta continues to put together an outstanding junior year, ranking second in the country with 1,271 yards passing and fifth in the country with 10 passing TDs this year, both of which lead the CAA. He enters today's showdown with Towson needing just 23 yards to become the sixth player to ever pass for 5,000 career yards at Richmond.
- Lauletta and the record-setter Brian Brown are quite a duo, both of whom will end their Richmond careers as one of the best to ever do it at their respective positions. With 23 more yards, Lauletta and Brown will become the first pass-catch duo to reach 5,000 career passing yards and 3,000 career receiving yards while playing at the same time.
