LAST TIME OUT
Richmond needed to use every bit of grit and determination in its arsenal on Saturday afternoon because Rhode Island (4-14, 0-5 A-10) was up to the task but the Spiders were able to hold off the Rams to pick up the 58-53, victory. The offense was sputtering after shooting just 28.5 percent over the first three quarters but the Spiders found a way, hitting big shot after big shot in fourth en route to shooting 7-14 down the stretch to put away the pesky Rams. Janelle Hubbard led the way for the visiting side with 15 points, pushing her into sixth on the Richmond all-time scoring list.
FOURTH QUARTER
Following Sunday's contest the Spiders are now 9-0 this season when leading or tied entering the fourth quarter of games. Janelle Hubbard is averaging 4.6 points during the final period and the team is shooting 35.5 percent to average 15.6 points as a group. Richmond is also unbeaten when it takes a lead into the final five minutes of the game.
LA SALLE WIN STREAK
The Spiders have won 11-straight in the series with La Salle, the longest such streak in the 23-game history of the series. The last Spider loss came Jan. 6, 2006, 58-59, in the Robins Center.
APPROACHING MILESTONES
Lauren Tolson has been very vocal about her desire to reach the 1,000-point plateau; especially after her injury last season put her behind the torrid pace she was on. The graduate student is now just 36 points shy of reaching her goal and becoming just the 23rd women's basketball player in the club. She is also just 15 triples shy of cracking the top 10 in program history.
CLIMBING THE LADDER
Senior guard Janelle Hubbard will end her career as one of the greatest scorers in program history. After a brief lull towards the end of the non-conference schedule, Hubbard has averaged 13.0 points per game in conference play moving her into 6th on the all-time list and just 131 points shy of taking a position in the Top 5.
