A Look at the Class of 2021

As the 2018 season quickly approaches, the University of Richmond women's lacrosse team has a championship on its mind. Along with an impressive and experienced group of returnees, the Spiders welcome a group of svene newcomers to the squad.
The Spider signing class brings a balanced array of talent, with attack, midfield and defense all represented. The incoming class boasts athletes from four different states, with three hailing from New York, two from New Jersey and one each from Massachusetts and Colorado.
Sarah Conley | Attack | Needham, Mass.
Coach Kwolek on Conley: "Sarah is a very fluid and talented attacker. Â One of the ways she sets herself apart is her ability to work off ball and get open on cuts. Â She is always heads up and either creating opportunities for herself or her teammates to get a great look on goal."Â
Becca Curro | Defense | Niskayuna, N.Y.
Coach Kwolek on Curro: "Becca is a tough competitor and brings her best everyday to the field. Â As a defender she has great footwork and a ton of speed coming out of the defensive end. Â I am looking forward to her challenging our attackers and pushing her teammates to get better."Â
Sophia Madsen | Attack | Snowmass Village, Colo.
Coach Kwolek on Madsen: "Sophia is a quick attacker, transferring from University of San Diego. She has a great love for the sport and her dedication and commitment to growing her game has already shown in her short time here. Her fitness and athletic ability will help set her apart from others during her time as a Spider."
Mekenzie Montgomery | Midfield | Hainesport, N.J.
Coach Kwolek on Montgomery: "Mekenzie is a workhorse. Â She is focused when she steps onto the field and always involved in hustle plays. Â I love how hard she plays and the consistent effort she brings to the field." Â
Jordan Ricciardi | Attack | Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.
Coach Kwolek on Ricciardi: "Jordan is a versatile attacker who brings a strong understanding of the game to the field. Â Her passion and dedication to the sport will prove invaluable during her career here as a Spider."Â
Brittney Wright | Defense/Midfield | Moorestown, N.J.
Coach Kwolek on Wright: "Brittney is a tenacious defender. Â She has incredibly fast footwork and also plays her angles very well. Â She is a very strong player and will be a great addition to our defensive lineup."
Rachel Ziemba | Attack/Midfield | Cazenovia, N.Y.
Coach Kwolek on Ziemba: "Rachel has incredible stick work and a high IQ for the game. Â She easily reads a defense and takes what they are giving her. That savviness is special and will constantly keep our defenders on their toes."Â
