Senior Salute: Thursday's Sportsline Season Finale Features Lauletta, Day With Coach Huesman
11/15/2017 | Football
The season finale of the football Spider Sportsline will feature its own Senior Day salute, as quarterback Kyle Lauletta and linebacker Madison Day, both fifth-year seniors, will join head coach Russ Huesman this Thursday from noon-1pm at Outback Steakhouse, 7917 West Broad Street.
The program, concluding its tenth consecutive year at Outback, airs live Thursday from noon-1pm on ESPN 950, espnrichmond.com and RichmondSpiders.com. An audio archive of each week's show is available in the on-demand section of the SpiderTV player and in the Audio Vault at espnrichmond.com.
Lauletta has re-written the Spider record book for quarterbacks, adding to his long list of accomplishments this past Saturday when he became the first Richmond signal caller to eclipse 10,000 career passing yards. He owns program records for game, season and career passing yards and touchdown passes, including the longest pass play in school history - a 93 yard touchdown connection with wide receiver Cortrelle Simpson in the Elon game this year at Robins Stadium. The Exton, Pa native has amassed 16 300-yard games, 5 400-yard games and a school record 546 yards against No. 3 Sam Houston St. in this year's season opener.Â
Day, a local product from Midlothian, came to Richmond as a lacrosse player following a standout high school career at Midlothian High School, but wound up as a member of three Spider football playoff teams as a reliable special teams standout and back-up linebacker. His most memorable game came during his sophomore season against state rival VMI, when he recorded 12 tackles and returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown. Later that year, he had a quarterback sack against Rhode Island.
Fans, alums and corporate partners are encouraged to attend the live show at Outback. Listeners can call-in during the program at 804-521-8501. Emails, texts and tweets can be sent anytime.
