UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – After a record-breaking 2017 season and a trip to the program's seventh Atlantic 10 Championship game in the last eight years, University of Richmond women's lacrosse head coach Allison Kwolek has announced the Spiders' 2018 schedule.
"I'm excited about the mix of teams we are seeing this spring," Kwolek said. "We'll face some familiar rivals, and our non-conference schedule will prepare us for A-10 play."
The Spiders will face many familiar foes in 2018, with multiple repeat opponents from last season including 2017 NCAA Tournament participants Virginia, James Madison and Massachusetts.
The season kicks off at home on February 10 when the Campbell Camels come to town for the programs' second all-time meeting.
Following a road stint to face American (Feb. 17) and Virginia (Feb. 21), the squad returns home to host Liberty on March 3 in a rematch of last year's season opener.
The Spiders then hit the road to face Old Dominion on March 10 before heading to Worcester, Massachusetts, to take on Holy Cross for the first time since 2000 on March 13. A trip down the road to James Madison wraps up nonconference road play on March 17.
William & Mary comes to town on March 24 for the 40th meeting between the two programs, before the Spiders open conference play at home against crosstown rival VCU on March 29.
A-10 play continues at Duquesne (March 31) and Saint Joseph's (April 6), before George Washington comes to Robins Stadium on April 8.
A road trip to Davidson on April 13 leads the Spiders into a three-game A-10 home stint, when the squad will play host to George Mason (April 15), Massachusetts (April 20) and La Salle (April 22).
The Spiders wrap up regular-season play on April 28 with a trip to Olean, New York, to face St. Bonaventure.
The 2018 Atlantic 10 Tournament is set for May 3-6, when Richmond will look to win the conference title on its home turf at Robins Stadium.
