Spiders Fall at Texas Tuesday Night

AUSTIN, Tex. – The University of Richmond baseball team squared off with six-time national champion, Texas on Tuesday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The Spiders fell to the Longhorns, 9-0.
Tuesday night's game was the fourth of a five-game set in the Lonestar State for the Spiders.
Texas grabbed a 2-0 lead early off back-to-back singles in the first. The Longhorns pushed across five in the second and one in the third to extend their lead to 8-0.
Sophomore Peter Bovenzi threw three scoreless frames of relief, holding the Longhorns at bay. The right-hander went 4.2 innings on the hill and struck out three.
The Longhorns added a run in the home half of the seventh behind an RBI double from Austin Todd to make it 9-0.
D.J. Lee, Kyle Schmidt, Daniel Brumbaugh and Justin Cook all had hits for Richmond.
The Spiders will wrap up their stay in Texas with a matinee game tomorrow at Incarnate Word. First pitch is slated for 12:00 p.m. EST.
