Isabella Rusher Named Wells Fargo Athlete of the Week

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Sophomore women's golfer Isabella Rusher was key for the Spiders this weekend at the Patriot League Championship as her team overcame a two-stroke deficit entering the final round to capture the programs' second-consecutive league crown. Izzy tied for third overall on the individual scoreboard and for her efforts she has been chosen as the Wells Fargo Athlete of the Week.
The Salisbury, N.C. native led the tournament after firing a +1, 73 in the opening round. She followed that up with a pair of 77's to pace the Spider crowd and finish at +11, 227. The Spiders' lone representative on the All-Conference First Team was Rusher who played as steady as they come all weekend. She made a pair of birdies to offset some bogeys on Sunday while playing alongside the eventual individual winner of the tournament from Boston U.
Her team is now just waiting hear their next destination. The NCAA Regionals will take place May 8-10 and the selection show is set for 11 a.m. on Thursday (Apr. 27) on the Golf Channel. Potential sites include Athens, Ga., Columbus, Ohio, Lubbock, Texas and Albuquerque, N.M.
