Thompson Named #7 Running Back In FCS By Athlon Sports

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – After becoming the first freshman in program history to rush for over 1,000 yards and earning Freshman All-American honors, Deontez Thompson has a bright future ahead of him.
That bright future was recognized by Athlon Sports, who named Thompson the #7 back in all of FCS this week.
Last fall, Thompson finished with 1,250 total yards and 11 total touchdowns.
He became the first freshman in program history to rush for over 1,000 yards and just the 13th player ever to reach 1,000 rushing yards in a single season.
His nine rushing touchdowns are the 12th-most in a single season in program history.
Thompson and his teammates will report to camp in late July to start preparing for another run at the FCS Playoffs.
