STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Four top-five finishes highlighted the final day of the Penn Stat National Invite.
Sophomore Maria Acosta came in three seconds behind Maryland's Jai'Lyn Merriweather at 1:15.53 for second place in the 500m. Junior Marshea Robinson took ninth overall in the event with a time of 1:17.02
Freshman Brooke Fazio rounded out the top-five in the 800m crossing the line in a time of 2:16.66. Senior Haley Preschutti was fourth in the 1,000m at 2:52.80 and freshman Caroline Robelen notched a top-ten finish in the event at 2:58.66
Senior Amanda Corbosiero placed third in the mile, just two seconds behind the leader, crossing the line at 4:43.01. Sophomore Claire Brown finished in 5:00.29 for 12th place.
In the 3,000m, sophomore Peyton McGovern finished in ninth place with a time of 9:41.79.
In addition, Alex Lucking ran an 8:21.21 in the invitational 3,000m to place sixth, which is a personal best and an IC4A qualifying time. Sophomore Will Alpaugh took third in the open 1,000m with a personal best time of 2:34.59.
The Spiders return to action next weekend as the team will split up competing at the Camel City Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C. and the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational in Lynchburg.
