SIMPSONVILLE, KY. -- The Richmond women's golf team battled a difficult golf course and difficult weather Saturday at the Cardinal Cup in Simpsonville, Kentucky. None of the Richmond's five golfers was able to finish the second round before play was halted, though the Spiders will only have a few holes to play to complete round two when play resumes Sunday.
The Spiders are currently in eighth place in the field of 14 with a combined score of 42-over par with three players grouped close together on the leaderboard. Sophomore Lizzie Reedy is tied for 19th at eight-over par, and seniors Sophie DiPetrillo and Annie Collom are tied for 25th at nine-over par.Â
Due to a frost delay, round two won't resume until 11:15 AM Sunday morning. Teams are expected to begin the third and final round at 11:45 AM.Â
"We're going to really focus on our course management and try to eliminate the big numbers," said head coach Ali Wright. "Our goal is to finish this tournament and our fall season strong."
