PINEHURST, N.C. – Career performances from senior Annie Collom and sophomore Lizzie Reedy led the Spiders a sixth-place finish at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate and landed both in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard. The event, which concluded Tuesday on course No. 6 at historic Pinehurst Resort, featured a strong 17-team field and more than 90 golfers vying for individual medalist honors.
Reedy played the final round in a one-over par 73, one shot better than Collom. Both golfers finished the event tied for 10th place with identical scores of 221 (+5), the lowest tournaments of their respective collegiate careers.
"Annie and Lizzie have been working so hard and I'm really proud of them for having their best events ever," said head coach Ali Wright. "This shows the kind of potential this team has and is a sign of good things to come."
Both Reedy and Collom registered their first top-10 finish of the season. It was the eighth time in Collom's career she's finished in the top 10 at an event and the seventh top-10 finish for Reedy, who played the par threes in a combined three-under par on Monday and Tuesday, tied for second lowest of any golfer in the field.
The Spiders will host Columbia in a two-team, 36-hole stroke-play event at Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Va. this weekend. Play will begin at 12:30 pm on Saturday and 8:30 am on Sunday.
