UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond women's lacrosse head coach Allison Kwolek has released the team's 2019 schedule following a historic 2018 season that included an Atlantic 10 title and a run to the NCAA Tournament.
The Spiders will face familiar nonconference foes, including perennial power and ACC title contender Virginia, as well as first-time opponents in Villanova and Presbyterian.
For the second-straight season, Richmond opens the season against Campbell. The 2019 season opener, scheduled for February 16, is on the road in Buies Creek, North Carolina.
The Spiders' home opener is a big one, as the team is set to host Virginia on February 20 at 3 p.m. The opener is followed by another home contest against American, scheduled for February 23.
Two straight home games are on the docket to start the month of March, as the Spiders will travel to Liberty (March 2) and William & Mary (March 6) before returning to Robins Stadium for two home matchups with Old Dominion (March 10) and Presbyterian (March 12). The team will then wrap up nonconference play at Villanova on March 16.
Atlantic 10 action is set to begin on March 22, when the Spiders head to Fairfax to face off with George Mason. Two home A-10 games against St. Bonaventure and Duquesne are scheduled for March 24 and 29, respectively, before the Spiders head out for a three-game road stint at George Washington (March 31), VCU (April 5) and La Salle (April 7).
The Davidson Wildcats come to Robins Stadium for an April 12 game, before the Spiders head to Amherst, Massachusetts, on April 14 for a matchup with their 2018 A-10 Co-Champion UMass. The 2019 regular season schedule wraps up with a home game versus Saint Joseph's on April 19.
The top six teams in the A-10 qualify for the 2019 Atlantic 10 Tournament, hosted by George Mason. The tournament, which is set for April 25-28, will determine which A-10 team earns the conference's automatic qualifying bid to the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
