Swimming and Diving Adds Jamie Greenwood as Volunteer Coach

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond swimming and diving head coach Matt Barany announced the addition of Jamie Greenwood to his coaching staff. Greenwood will serve as the Spider's volunteer assistant coach.
Greenwood joins the Spiders with four years' experience working with Nova of Virginia Aquatics as a senior coach and before that served as the head coach at the Virginia Association for Competitive Swimming before the two merged. Greenwood was the 2016 Virginia Swimming Senior Coach of the Year. His team was a four-time Virginia State champion from 2014-18 with first-place finishes in the men's 2015 and 2016 NCSA Junior Nationals and first combined at the 2015 NCSA Junior Nationals.
"We are very humbled to have someone like Jamie want to be a part of our program." Coach Barany said, "We value his experience and his progressive ideas. Jamie is a great addition to our staff and we look forward to working with him throughout this season."
Greenwood earned his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from the University of Virginia where he was a letterwinner on the ACC Champion Cavalier swim team and was an Academic All-ACC honoree. He went on to earn a master's degree from the University of Virginia in 2004 in Exercise Physiology where his thesis on recovery protocols and their effect on subsequent swimming was published in the Journal of Sports Sciences.
